MCA Mine Shaft Hoisting

MCA Engineering recently delivered a shaft refurbishment project for a Mine in Regional NSW, involving the installation of a 24m Headframe, two 1200 Mine Class Winders (Sil 2 control), a working stage, and cage for men and materials.

The client required a solution to equip their number one shaft to a depth of 1000m to increase their capacity at the site. MCA Engineering developed a solution that provided access to new and existing shafts for the purpose of ground support or shaft maintenance, allowing access to a depth of 1,200m.

The installed cage will deliver 4m x 9m DN150 pipes in a pack to the stage, which is equipped with a hydraulic crane that will lift the service elements into place against the shaft wall. It is anticipated that MCA Engineering will install 108m of pipeline per shift. The equipment will also be used to install a new loading station in modules from the surface, speeding up construction underground and lowering components down 1,000m with a weight of 48t if necessary.

Below is a time lapse video showcasing MCA Engineering’s Headframe installation capabilities:

MCA Engineering designs, develops and installs high quality mine shaft hoisting equipment, working with mining companies in minimising initial infrastructure spend on costly construction. Safety is paramount to MCA, and all mining solutions are developed in accordance with all relevant Australian Standards and Guidelines.

MCA Engineering were recently awarded NSW Department of Trade and Industry Registration for their 24m Headframe and 1200 Class Winder products under MDG33 and MDG2005.
